The OLpur MD 190 is an advanced proprietary cartridge specifically designed for use in hemodiafiltration therapy. It uniquely combines post-dilution and pre-dilution diafiltration into one elegant and simple-to-use cartridge design. As a result, the OLpur MD 190 achieves the superior urea clearance of post-dilution hemodiafiltration, while offering unsurpassed clearance of toxins in the middle-molecule range.

The construction of the OLpur MD 190 is similar to a typical hollow fiber dialyzer, using a single fiber bundle. A ring-shaped groove in the potting compound at one end and a two compartment header cap are used to separate the fiber bundle into two discrete but serially connected blood paths: an outer or annular path (stage 1), and an inner or core path (stage 2). A substitution fluid inlet port is provided on the opposite header to deliver substitution fluid in mid-stage dilution mode.
