Kimothy L. Smith, DVM, PhD
Kimothy Smith, DVM, PhD currently serves as the Vice President of Pathogen Detection Systems at Nephros. Kimothy has a deep background in conducting research programs and building health-related infrastructure. Prior to Nephros, Kimothy was co-founder and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of McCarthy & Smith Consulting, specializing in Biosurveillance, Bioforensics, Biodefense, and Biosecurity. From 2014 to 2017, Kimothy was Professor of Advanced Analytics at the Desert Research Institute in Reno, Nevada, and from 2012 to 2014 was Professor of Microbiology and Epidemiology at the University of Nevada School of Community Health Sciences. Kimothy earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University to then become a practicing veterinarian for almost ten years. Kimothy earned his Ph.D. in molecular epidemiology from Louisiana State University in 1999, where he was curator of the Worldwide Bacillus anthracis collection.
